United Bible Societies 2021 | 75 Years of Serving Together
Celebrating the legacy of the United Bible Societies Fellowship
In 1946, immediately following World War II, around a dozen Bible Societies came together to found the global fellowship of “United Bible Societies.” They envisioned that this new body would facilitate collaboration around services, tools and ideas that would strengthen Bible ministry around the world.
Many of the Bible Societies who gathered had persevered in Bible ministry during perilous conditions during the war, and they saw collaboration as an opportunity to broaden and strengthen ministry that they knew was essential for so many people in their own communities. Now, 75 years later, United Bible Societies is a fellowship of around 150 Bible Societies working together in more than 240 countries and territories.
Over the last 75 years, churches, supporters, partner organizations, Bible Society staff and leaders have served together in the common mission of “the Bible for everyone.” This unity and cooperation, which has been guided by God, has resulted in life-changing ministry around the world. We look forward to the next era of Bible ministry, where we can continue to serve our communities with Scripture as part of a fellowship of United Bible Societies.
